Floating Solar, Flying Start: West Kallada's 260 Cr Green Leap

Set to launch in March 2027, a major 50 MW floating solar project in West Kallada is bringing Kerala a step closer to a sustainable future. Led by NHPC with an investment of Rs 260 crore, the plant is expected to churn out 99 million units of clean energy in its very first year. Though the idea was first floated back in 2013, it truly took off after critical agreements were locked in between 2025 and 2026. Beyond clean power, the region is also gearing up for a tourism boom, with plans to introduce boating and water sports across a nearby 100-acre expanse of water.
